Knowledge is here for the taking – we’re excited to be part of your learning journey.
Nothing inspires hope more than real-life examples of people who have walked the path to stability and independence. Here, we share success stories from individuals and families who have used our ARMHS services.
Each story highlights a unique journey – the challenges faced, the steps taken with our team, and the achievements unlocked. We’ve chosen stories that reflect two core client journeys:
Those seeking stabilization in times of crisis.
Those striving for greater independence in daily living.
(Names and identifying details have been changed to protect privacy, but the victories are 100% real.)
Initial Challenge:
John, a 32-year-old Army veteran, was battling severe PTSD and depression. After multiple hospitalizations, he struggled with basic tasks like grocery shopping and keeping his apartment clean. His case manager referred him to ARMHS as a last resort to help him stabilize.
Our Approach:
John worked with an ARMHS practitioner, practicing grounding techniques, crisis planning, and independent living skills like budgeting and cooking. Over time, he built confidence in managing daily life.
Breakthrough Moment:
At 4 months, John avoided an ER visit for the first time by following his crisis plan. Later, he maintained a clean apartment for the first time in years.
Outcome:
After a year, John had zero suicidal episodes, stable housing, and reconnected with an old hobby – painting. He now attends a veteran’s art therapy group and is thriving.
(Quote from John: “I used to have 911 on speed dial. Now I have my support plan and people I trust.”)
Initial Challenge:
Maria, 45, had bipolar disorder but had never lived independently. After a divorce, she wanted to manage her own finances, home, and social life but was anxious about doing things solo.
Our Approach:
An ARMHS practitioner helped Maria budget, create routines, and practice social skills. They even role-played how to talk to landlords, preparing her to find housing.
Breakthrough Moment:
After 9 months, Maria applied for and moved into her own apartment. She also built a social circle and gained financial confidence.
Outcome:
Today, Maria is thriving in her new home, budgeting successfully, cooking for herself, and even taking community college courses.
(Quote from Maria: “I wake up in my own place, make my coffee, and think – this is my life and I’m living it.”)
